FELICIA LIBAN ENAMELING STUDIO

 

Felicia Liban came from Poland to the United States in 1946. She studied art privately, at Pratt Institute, and with leading artists in the enameling and jewelry fields. Mrs. Liban taught enameling at Parsons School of Design, Nassau Museum of Fine Art, and the YM-YWHA in Little Neck, and for the past 25 years she has been teaching in her own studio. She was also invited to lecture, demonstrate, and teach at many schools and organizations throughout the country. Her works of art are in numerous private collections and public institutions.

Felicia Liban co-authored a book entitled Cloisonné and Jewelry Making, which was published 1981 by Chilton Book Company, Radnor PA. In I 989 Dover Publications came out with a soft cover edition of this book. Felicia Liban also authored two Video Tapes produced by Video Craftwork, Inc. One is Making of Cloisonné Enamel and the other is Creating Hand Woven Chains.

 

ARTIST STATEMENT

Speaking of her collection, Mrs. Liban says "My collection of contemporary jewelry reflects design and techniques I developed. Using different materials I fashion these into nontraditional jewelry. These creations assume the characteristics of contemporary art".
